THANKSGIVING SERVICE - 17 JULY 2011
Our Royal British Legion 90th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service and Parade
took place on Sunday 17 July 2011.
The Parade comprised The Standard Party
(Standards from RBL Farnborough, RBL Basingstoke,
RBL Elstead, RBL Bordon and RAFA),
and representatives
from The Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps,
Military Preparation College, 4th Aldershot
Scout Group and Gurkha Veterans.
The parade stepped off at 1030 hours and the
Harbour Pipes and Drums Band played all the way to the Church.
The Service was attended by The Mayor of Rushmore Councillor Alex Crawford
and the Aldershot Provost Marshal Lieutenant Colonel Peter House
who both read Lessons.
During the Service children from Marlborough Infants School sang for us
and The Provost Marshal recited the poem “In Flanders Fields”
After the Service there was a Release of 21 Pure White Doves
and a march back to the Club with a Salute
taken by the Mayor and Provost Marshal
